The VoIP industry knows ClueCon as a well-known event. The ClueCon Weekly is a virtual event in which the representatives of FreeSWITCH and SignalWire interview VoIP experts across the globe and give them a platform to share their experience and expertise with the viewers. Mr. Luca Pradovera hosts ClueCon Weekly, interviewing VoIP experts worldwide in various episodes.
Luca interviewed Mr. Samir Doshi, a community leader of ASTPP and Co-founder/Director of iNextrix Technologies Pvt. Ltd., in a recent episode of ClueCon Weekly’s latest season. He represented ASTPP and answered interesting questions about its journey from Asterisk to prepaid billing and becoming a smart telephony platform based on FreeSWITCH.
Samir has 11+ years of experience working with different VoIP solutions and leading an IT company based out of India. Samir and Arpit, Co-founders and Directors of iNextrix Technologies Pvt. Ltd has been managing and maintaining ASTPP since 2013.
In 2013, ASTPP had two models, one in Asterisk and another in FreeSWITCH and zero community members. The original version of ASTPP used Perl and Asterisk. Samir and his team conducted the research and discovered that the FreeSWITCH version of the ASTPP. In comparison to this, the Asterisk version was slightly less stable. Moreover, due to greater interest in FreeSWITCH in 2013, Samir and his team decided to carry forward the project in the FreeSWITCH platform.tform.
After taking over the platform, the first stable version of the ASTPP VoIP billing solution was released in 2014. This had encouraged some community members and ex users of this VoIP billing solution to come forward and contribute to the community again. They had helped in fixing some bugs by raising them, contributing to the code, as well as, defining the roadmap.
Samir noticed decreased contributions to open-source VoIP solutions over time, leading ASTPP to launch the ASTPP enterprise version for platform survival. The ASTPP enterprise version collects funds and uses them to empower and enhance the open-source version of ASTPP.
Samir explained that ASTPP is now a single platform offering various VoIP solutions like IP PBX and fax server. This is the only platform that has introduced the concept of add-ons in the VoIP industry.
The community of ASTPP is looking forward to adding more valuable add-ons to this platform. Also encourage people to use this concept to add new features.
Along with all this important information, Samir had also discussed market size and target market of ASTPP. And some more interesting information in his interview.
